How do I register for the jamboree?
Scouts who participate in the 2010 National Scout Jamboree are selected by more than 300 councils in the United States.  Here is what it takes:

  • A Scout must be first approved by his Scoutmaster or Varsity Scout Coach and the local council jamboree committee.

  • Each Scout must be at least 12 years old or have completed the sixth grade by July 1, 2010.

  • He must be a First Class Scout by July 1, 2010.

  • His 18th birthday must not be before Aug. 3, 2010.

  • Participation in the jamboree requires a pre-jamboree training experience.

  • Each Scout must file a personal health record and medical record form before that training event.

  • The Scout must be active in his troop for at least six months prior to July 1, 2010.

Register online at www.bsajamboree.org.

Go to the website and create a log-in user ID and password.  You must have your BSA membership ID number to create a user account.  This is on your membership card, or you can also call the council office manager, John Fortini at 508-872-6551.

There will be a window on the log-in screen informing the user of the BSA member ID requirement.  Create a MyScouting account.  Now you can complete an online application.

PLEASE NOTE:
The biggest issue with the jamboree application process has been the way the MyScouting accounts are being created. As it states on the log-in page of MyScouting, all jamboree applications must be submitted from the account of a parent or guardian. (MyScouting accounts can be created by parents/guardians even if they are not registered with the BSA.) Some accounts are mistakenly being created with the youth’s BSA member ID number in the profile. This will result in an “invalid member ID number” error.

When submitting, the applicant will be asked to pay a $10 processing fee payable by credit/debit card only.  The processing fee is nonrefundable.

All youth and leader applicants will be instructed to print their confirmation and have it signed by their Scoutmaster.  Take the signed document and a $100 deposit to the Knox Trail Council office.

Note:  This confirmation does not guarantee a spot in the council jamboree troop.  The council jamboree committee will make that determination.

How do I apply to be on the general jamboree staff?
Staff applicants will be directed to pay a deposit when applying.  Staff fees do not go through the Knox Trail Council.  Staff must be 16 years of age by July 26, 2010. Registration is online using the same process as the youth application.  Your ID number is on your unit roster or membership card.

More details will follow from the National Council for youth and adults applying for the general jamboree staff.
