26th ANNUAL NERJCoS CONFERENCE CALLING ALL JEWISH SCOUTERS! This conference is the #1 training activity that supports your year-round efforts. Our conference will help you provide great program with the help of knowledgeable experts from all areas of Jewish Scouting. Conference Location: InfoAge (Camp Evans), 2201 Marconi Road, Wall, New Jersey 07719 Conference Date: Sunday, March 10, 2013, 9 AM – 4:30 PM Program Specifics: The formal conference program is preceded by coffee, tea, juice, bagels and a smear, and the exhibit hall and trading post will be open. As always, we will have a wonderful kosher lunch included in the $36 conference fee. The program this year will be focused on the Jewish Program starting as Tigers and ending as adult leaders. What programs do we have available; how to administer these programs; differences in location dos and don’ts; recruiting for committees and locating Jewish scouts. The Shomer Shabbat Contingent to the 2013 National Scout Jamboree These Troops will allow full access to the spectacular Jamboree experience, for Scouts whose observance of the Boy Scouts of America’s 12th point of the Scout Law ...“A Scout is Reverent”... includes observing the four requirements of:
(1) The Jewish dietary laws at all times
(Kashrut), 2013 Jamboree Program Outline: Dr. Howard Spielman is again the Contingent Coordinator for ‘The Shomer Shabbat Contingent.’ We are pleased that Monmouth Council in NJ has again graciously agreed to be the ‘Host Council’ and that this program has been organized with the cooperation of the National Jewish Committee on Scouting. The Lead Scoutmaster will be Mr. Sheldon Freidenreich of Highland Park, NJ and other leaders will be announced in the near future. Two Jamboree Troops have been allocated for this Contingent, with each Troop having 36 youth and four adults. Sign up now to reserve your place! This Contingent will gather at the Forestburg Scout Reservation, Forestburgh, NY on Sunday, July 7, 2013. Over the next days, Scouts will build teamwork and effective patrols, earn Merit Badges while participating in Scout Summer Camp, and complete pre-Jamboree training experiences. Travel to the Jamboree will be by coach bus on Sunday–Monday, July 14–15. The Jamboree runs for 10 days at The Summit Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia, from Monday, July 15 through Wednesday, July 24, 2013 when Scouts will be brought up the East Coast, with drop-offs and connections made for their return home, reaching the NY/NJ area that day. Those traveling to New England will overnight in Highland Park, NJ with a bus to Brookline, MA on July 25. See the ‘Information Packet’ for program details and registration information.
